The response was an innovative solution that made it possible: The Original and most reliable Energy Recovery System.
Traditionally, powerful motors and large amounts of energy are used to generate the necessary high pressures. This was no problem for large vessels that had plenty of power and space to spare. Therefore, fresh water was a luxury that few sailors could afford. The Patented Katadyn Energy Recovery System takes advantage of stored energy in the high pressure reject water that is typically wasted. The pressurised reject water is re-circulated to the back side of the piston to assist the next stroke. This continuously stored energy is kept in the system, resulting in much less work to achieve fresh drinking water from the sea.
In use by almost all the Worlds Defence Forces The same technology that allowed efficient hand operation was adapted to higher output power units to give truly energy-efficient racing yachts, cruisers and ocean rowers access to the "luxury" of fresh water on demand.
